This component is focused on building girls’ self-efficacy, understanding the goal-setting process, formulating a picture of the lives to which they are aspiring and drawing up a plan-of-action. There exists a divide between the girls’ current knowledge, what they want to know and what they need to know, particularly because of their age. As such, this component includes lifeskills, professional communication skills and soft-skills training.
A
key aspect of this component is also leadership training, premised on the need to make girls aware of their latent leadership potential; while the world at large recognises the need for more women in leadership within all sectors of society, are the girls aware of this demand for their leadership skills? Girls lead, learn, grow and thrive when they are given a wide range of opportunities to make an impact. The contributions they make in their homes, schools and communities and community leadership can inspire and ignite lasting change. They can transform the world as their development has an greater multiplier effect on their families and communities at large.

Academic Excellence
The academic excellence component is focussed on providing support for STEM (Science, Technology and Mathematics) academic subjects to girls in secondary schools (grade 8 – 12) attending no-fee paying schools.
This support includes providing learning materials (textbooks, study guides, scientific calculators etc), providing additional tuition / extra lessons and career guidance in STEM related fields. Girls are further encouraged to complete secondary school, and where necessary, to return to complete secondary school.
Career Guidance
South Africa is faced with the challenge of an insufficient small pool of skill and expertise in industries which require STEM subjects competency, especially among females. The severe dearth of women at board level and senior management in all industries, especially STEM industries, is a concern which this component seeks to address. The various programmes on offer target secondary school girls and post-secondary school learners in short-term and long-term programmes. The objectives of this component are to

-
Pro-actively and deliberately create a pipeline for STEM related industries
-
Mentor and expose girls to possible career opportunities
-
Create opportunities for girls to interact with female industry professionals
-
Prepare the girls for university
-
Assist the girls secure bursaries to continue their studies
